Musical Training
Dr. Pravin Gaonkar began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, the Late Shri Pandurang Gaonkar. He received formal classical training at Kala Academy, Goa, completing an 8-year diploma course (Sangeet Kushal) with distinction, followed by post-graduation (Sangeet Parangat) under Pt. Kamlakar Naik of the Agra Gharana.
He further refined his skills under the Late Pt. Prabhudev Sardar of the Agra and Jaipur Gharanas and continues advanced training with Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty and Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande.
His training in light classical music is enriched through guidance from Padma Shri Pt. Suresh Wadkar. His repertoire spans khayal, thumri, dadra, abhang, natya sangeet, and bhaav sangeet.
