Musical Training
Dr. Pravin Gaonkar began his musical journey under the guidance of his father, the Late Shri Pandurang Gaonkar. He underwent formal training at Kala Academy, Goa, completing an 8-year diploma course with distinction (Sangeet Kushal) and later pursuing his post-graduation (Sangeet Parangat) under Pt. Kamlakar Naik of the Agra Gharana. He further enriched his skills under the Late Pt. Prabhudev Sardar (Agra and Jaipur Gharanas) and continues advanced training with Padma Bhushan Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty and Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande. His training in light classical music includes mentorship from Padma Shri Pt. Suresh Wadkar, shaping him into a versatile vocalist with mastery over khayal, thumri, dadra, abhang, natya sangeet, and bhav sangeet.

Professional Work & Contributions

• President of Swastik Cultural Association, Panaji, Goa, promoting Indian classical music through concerts, workshops, and outreach.

• Chief Organizer of the annual Swaramangesh – Mast Dinanath Mangeshkar Memorial Classical Music & Dance Festival, a prominent cultural event in Goa.

• Actively engaged in preserving and promoting the Agra Gharana tradition while mentoring aspiring vocalists.

Performances

• Graded (B-High) Artist of All India Radio in Indian Classical Music.

• Performed at Surashree Kesarbai Sangeet Samaroha organized by Kala Academy, Panaji (1994 & 2012).

• Featured in Pt. Jitendra Abhisheki Samaroha (Goa, Pune, Aurangabad, Kolhapur).

• Participated in major festivals at Ahmedabad, Udaipur, Indore & Mumbai.

• Performed at the prestigious Pune Ganesh Festival.

• International performances include Singapore (Temple of Fine Arts, 2010) and Lisbon, Portugal (2012).

• Recently honored with the Yuva Srujan Puraskar from Govt. of Goa for excellence in music.

• Regularly featured at festivals across Delhi, Banaras, Bengaluru, and Kerala.
